Pete Wentz - Wentz Wants To Raise Baby In Chicago

Rocker PETE WENTZ wants to raise his unborn child in his native Chicago, Illinois - because he believes it is a better place to grow up in than California.

The Fall Out Boy star and his new wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz are expecting their first child together later this year (08).

And Wentz has been preparing for parenthood by taking tips from his own father.

He tells People.com, "I've been reading books and watching my dad."

But he admits he would prefer to move from their current base in Los Angeles to Chicago in time for the baby's birth.

He adds, "I think I would rather raise a family here than L.A.; you go to your own coffee shop, you go to the dog park, its smaller and I appreciate it."

This '90s R&B vocal group should not be confused with the late-'70s Philadelphia band, which was a funk-oriented unit of measurement, or the outspoken trinity Silk from Los Angeles. Timothy Cameron, Jimmy Gates, Jr., Jonathen Rasboro, Gary Jenkins, and Gary Glenn issued their debut LP, Misplace Control, in 1992 and have aroused urban present-day audiences, specially women, with their piquant harmonies and aggressively indicative material. Their unmarried "Freak Me" was a huge hit in 1993; iI long time later, the mathematical group issued a self-titled LP for Elektra, followed in 1999 by Tonight. Love Session appeared in spring 2001.

FLOBOTS

Fight With Tools (Universal Republic): A-

Flobots deserve the sudden hype. An organic Denver-based hip-hop outfit with a political slant and viola player Mackenzie Roberts pulling strings, the band is rap music’s most singular breakthrough act in years. On their major label debut, some of Jonny 5 and Brer Rabbit’s rhymes overplay anti-establishment cliches, but in a genre so overrun with ignorance it’s refreshing to hear MCs creatively push progressive values. Pop meets poetry at uni

They might not be Shakespeare or Wordsworth but lyrics by soul singer Amy Winehouse have been included in a Cambridge University literature exam for the first time.Final year English students were asked to compare a song by the singer with verses from Elizabethan poet and explorer Sir Walter Raleigh. The university defended its decision to include lyrics from the 24-year-old's hit single Love is a Losing Game in the exams, while critics accused it of dumbing down.On the same day last week that the song, from Winehouse's breakthrough release Back to Black, won a prestigious Ivor Novello award, students were being asked to compare it to the 16th century poet's work As You Came from the Holy Land. They could also write about Bob Dylan's Boots Of Spanish Leather or Billie Holiday's Fine And Mellow during the practical criticism exam.Cambridge officials said students were then asked to compare Raleigh's poem, written in 1592, with one or two of the designated songs while making reference to the "diverse senses of lyric".

Nick Seaton, of the Campaign for Real Education group, said it amounted ot "dumbing down" the exams.- REUTERS
